Handbook and Transparencies

Inspired by Jack Matsuoka's stories and sketches he made as a teenager in World War II Japanese American Concentration Camp, 8th grade students tell their stories about social injustices they've experienced, and the social justice they dream they may be able to achieve.

"Sketching Justice" covers the process of youth defining positive social action. It chronicles how 8th grade students, initially deeply convinced that "justice" equaled "revenge," explored a new paradigm: that social justice may be achieved through non-violent education.

Readers will marvel at the creative solutions of young people, and the challenges they face to clear their minds of the abundant and ever-present negative and violent role modeling infused in our culture.
